Meditation

Many people nowadays are experiencing discouragement, frustration, and anger.  I admit that I too am discouraged at times.  One of the best ways for me to cope with the daily frustrations is through meditation.  I have been meditating at least 2 or 3 times a week for the past two years.  I learned how to meditate in grad school from my Practice of Self Management class taught by Jeremy Hunter.  At that point of my life I had just been laid off from my job of 7 years and survived a head on collision (both within a week of each other).  I truly believe meditating 3 times a week helped me to accept the loss of my job and accept that part of my life was in the past.  The meditation combined with the physical therapy helped me to heal more quickly from my car accident.

The last two years whenever anything big or small occurred in my life the mediation has always been there to help ground me and to help me act in a more mindful way, even if it is after the fact.  Meditation will not get rid of my problems but it is helping me to look at life in a new and mindful way.
