LA Food Swap

On Sunday, March 27th the 1st LA Food Swap took place at ReForm School with about 30 people participating, impressive number for the 1st swap.  In the past I have participated in the Valley Produce Exchange (which is on hiatus) and informally trading herbs, fruits and veggies with friends.  When I saw a post by Heather Parlato and read about the Swap I was curious to participate.

Initially there was no space, but was able to attend due to a cancellation.  Emily Ho, hostess extraordinaire, of the LA Food Swap was extremely helpful answering questions at the event and prior to the event.  The venue was perfect for the Swap big enough for the amount of people and intimate at the same time.  I think I was able to taste a bit of everything, which was delicious!  and talk to most everyone who participated, such a wonderful and creative group!

If you want to get a feel for what it was like check out Gregory Han’s photos from the event.  After perusing the photos if you feel the urge to participate in the next LA Food Swap in May make sure to sign up for the email list.

To get a taste of what a Swap is like GOOD will be hosting a Pop Up Community Sharing Center at Atwater Crossing on Saturday, April 9th.  Hope to see you there!
